As a Product Manager at Headway (hiring across Senior, Staff, Principal, and Senior Principal levels), you will take end-to-end ownership of core product areas across our Patient, Provider, Payer, or Platform pillars. Sitting at the intersection of healthcare delivery, complex insurance networks, and a multi-sided marketplace, you will leverage artificial intelligence (LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval frameworks, and automated evaluations) to transform mental health care navigation, streamline clinical administration, and scale foundational billing/claims infrastructure.

Patient Experience: Build AI-powered matching engines and care navigation tools that convert over 1 million monthly patient referral requests into active, sustained clinical care pathways.
Provider Experience: Engineer AI tools that automate clinical workflows, documentation, scheduling, credentialing, and billing—enabling therapists to run efficient, thriving practices on Headway.
Payer Solutions: Design AI-driven clinical outcome metrics and analytics dashboards that prove care efficacy to health insurers, unlocking value-based care and strategic payer partnerships.
Platform Infrastructure: Build and scale core financial infrastructure—billing, claims processing, payments, and trust & safety—using AI automation to detect fraud, ensure compliance, and maximize unit economics.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Product Ownership: Define and execute the product vision and strategic roadmap for your assigned domain in tight alignment with Engineering, Data Science, Design, Clinical, and Operations teams.
Production AI Integration: Identify high-leverage opportunities to apply LLM architectures, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and intelligent workflows—driving bets from initial discovery to production-grade deployment at scale.
Metrics Ownership & Rigor: Establish clear key performance indicators (KPIs) and business outcomes; partner with Data Science on experiment design, causal inference, and continuous iteration.
Customer Advocacy: Represent the voice of the customer—patients, therapists, or health plan executives—basing product decisions on data analytics and direct qualitative research.
Cross-Functional Alignment: Navigate complex regulatory, legal, compliance, and clinical constraints, converting industry complexities into elegant product design choices.

Requirements

Product Management & AI Expertise

8+ years of progressive product management experience with a track record of owning complex, high-impact product areas in high-growth environments.
Hands-on experience developing and shipping production LLM systems (prompt engineering, retrieval architectures, evals, fine-tuning) that perform reliably at scale.
Proven success building at scale within a two-sided marketplace, developer/data platform, or high-volume transactional ecosystem.
Strong quantitative fluency with practical experience partnering with Data Scientists on experiment design, A/B testing, and causal analysis.
Experience navigating complex, regulated, or constraint-heavy industries (e.g., healthcare, fintech, insurance).
Precise written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of influencing cross-functional engineering, legal, clinical, and executive stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience within digital health, health tech, health insurance (payor/provider operations), or medical billing infrastructure.
Experience building 0-to-1 AI tools or scaling multi-tenant SaaS platforms for independent SMBs or healthcare practices.
