Senior Software Engineer, Data Automation | Klaviyo Job

Klaviyo’s Data Automation team builds tooling that helps Data Platform engineers provision and use infrastructure to power core Klaviyo functionality and generate data-driven insights. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain mission-critical analytics infrastructure. You will work with a cross-functional team on technical design documents, system infrastructure, high-quality code, and large-scale production systems. Klaviyo looks for engineers who specialize in certain areas but love building, owning, and scaling features end to end, and who are willing to learn new technologies and step out of their comfort zone.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain mission-critical analytics infrastructure
• Write technical design documents and create system infrastructure with a cross-functional team
• Write high-quality code and operate large-scale systems in production
• Review other engineers’ designs and code
• Mentor engineers on the team and across the broader engineering organization

Requirements

• BA or BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of experience in a software engineering discipline
• High skill in at least one modern programming language
• Experience provisioning infrastructure using Terraform or a similar infrastructure as code tool
• Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems in a cloud computing environment
• Experience with Linux operating systems
• Experience with OLTP and OLAP databases
• Experience with high-volume data processing and storage systems
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Ability to work in a team, learn continuously, adapt to a high-growth environment, and stick with difficult problems
