Citrix Platform Engineer - AWS Cloud & GitLab CI/CD

A leading global IT consulting firm is supporting a major enterprise client in a large-scale cloud infrastructure and platform engineering program.

We are seeking an experienced Citrix Platform Engineer on AWS to take end-to-end technical ownership of engineering, automating, and maintaining production-grade Citrix Cloud / DaaS and Virtual Apps and Desktops environments hosted on AWS. In this hands-on engineering role, you will bridge desktop virtualization with modern DevOps practices—using Terraform, HashiCorp Packer, Ansible, GitLab CI/CD, and advanced PowerShell to eliminate manual operations, automate Gold Image lifecycles, and ensure high availability, security, and scalability across enterprise VDI environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Platform Engineering & AWS Hosting: Architect, deploy, and maintain Citrix platform solutions (Citrix Cloud / DaaS and Virtual Apps and Desktops) on AWS, ensuring strict security, reliability, and high availability.
• End-to-End Delivery Ownership: Manage the complete technical lifecycle from initial requirements gathering and solution design through code reviews, automated testing, production deployment, and post-deployment validation.
• VDI & Gold Image Automation: Manage persistent and non-persistent desktop pools via Machine Creation Services (MCS); design and maintain automated Gold Image pipelines using HashiCorp Packer and PowerShell.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Provision, update, and manage cloud infrastructure repeatability using HashiCorp Terraform and HCL.
• CI/CD & Operational Automation: Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines to automate image builds, infrastructure updates, configuration management via Ansible, and REST API integrations.
• Advanced PowerShell Scripting: Develop reusable, production-grade PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks, health checks, and routine maintenance.
• Release Management & Testing: Formulate comprehensive testing strategies (functional, integration, regression) and execute production deployments with clear rollback and disaster recovery plans.
• Troubleshooting & Observability: Diagnose complex performance, networking, identity, and application delivery issues across hybrid Citrix and AWS environments.
• Documentation & Runbooks: Produce detailed architecture diagrams, automation workflows, infrastructure configurations, and operational runbooks.

Requirements

Practical Experience & Core Stack

• 8+ years of progressive IT experience focused on platform engineering, infrastructure automation, or virtual desktop engineering.
• Deep expertise in Citrix Cloud / DaaS, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, VDI delivery models, and Machine Creation Services (MCS).
• Demonstrated experience managing Citrix Gold Image lifecycles and image update automation.
• High proficiency in PowerShell scripting and Citrix PowerShell SDK automation.
• Hands-on expertise with HashiCorp Terraform (HCL) for Infrastructure as Code and HashiCorp Packer for automated machine image creation.
• Proven experience building and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and image deployments.
• Practical experience using Ansible for configuration management and REST API integrations.

Software Engineering & Delivery Skills

• Ability to independently design, test, and ship automation end-to-end without relying on manual procedures.
• Experience with version control (Git), release management, rollback planning, and post-deployment validation.
• Excellent technical documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator) or Citrix Certifications (CCE-V, CCP-V, CC-XENDESKTOP-AWS).
• Experience with AWS-native IaC tools (AWS CloudFormation) and AWS core networking/security services (VPC, IAM, Security Groups).
• Familiarity with enterprise monitoring, logging, and observability frameworks.
• Prior experience working in large-scale enterprise environments or international IT management consultancies.
