About the role
Motive builds technology to improve the safety, productivity, and profitability of physical operations across trucking, construction, oil and gas, field services, and agriculture. Serving over 120,000 customers worldwide, Motive combines IoT hardware with AI-powered applications to connect and automate fleet operations.
As a Senior Billing Specialist, you will own accurate and timely billing operations across Motive's quote-to-cash cycle. Serving as a key escalation point, you will independently investigate billing discrepancies, validate complex enterprise contracts, resolve vendor finance funding issues, manage chargebacks end-to-end, and enforce SOX-compliant financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Billing Cycle Execution: Oversee complete account billing status, research data discrepancies, clear lender requirements, and ensure accurate, timely invoicing across standard and strategic customer accounts.
- Enterprise Contract Validation: Review complex enterprise contracts, validate pricing structures and terms, and coordinate custom billing schedules for key accounts.
- Vendor Finance & Funding Invoices: Generate Vendor Finance funding invoices for lenders, resolve tax and fee discrepancies, and process funding invoice adjustments.
- End-to-End Chargeback Management: Manage card and ACH chargeback lifecycles—including intake, investigation, evidence representation, deadline tracking, and outcome booking per network/bank protocols.
- Adjustments & Approvals: Handle cancellations, early terminations, refunds, credits, write-offs, and held-to-contract fees according to internal approval policies and controls.
- Audits & Reconciliations: Perform invoice-to-usage reviews, general ledger tie-outs, and partner funding reconciliations; support month-end close and SOX-compliant audit trails.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Account Management, Order Management, Accounting, Tax, and Payments teams to resolve support tickets, maintain data integrity, and perform root-cause analyses.
Requirements
Educational & Professional Background
- Mandatory Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 2–3+ years of direct experience in billing, accounts receivable, payments, or finance operations.
- Hands-on experience managing enterprise billing, invoice generation, refunds, chargeback representation, cancellations, and account reconciliations in high-volume environments.
Technical Capabilities & Software Fluency
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets (large operational datasets, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, complex financial reconciliations).
- Familiarity with enterprise billing platforms, payment processors, and ERP systems; experience with Zuora, Salesforce, or similar platforms is strongly preferred.
Operations & Compliance
- Strong understanding of quote-to-cash payment flows, financial controls, and audit trails.
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills with high documentation precision.
- Schedule Commitment: Full availability to work US business hours (9:00 PM – 6:00 AM PKT, Monday through Friday).
Preferred Qualifications
