Senior Engineer, Engine Networking | Roblox, San Mateo, CA

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Engine Networking team, you will have an immediate impact on the building blocks of Roblox itself. The software is a very large application that lets a global community of 2M+ developers push the boundaries of interactive gaming, and your work will touch every part of the engine, from threading and memory management to physics and scripting. If you enjoy C++ and have a passion for high-performance real-time applications, you will be at home on the growing Game Engine team alongside experienced, passionate engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop C++ engine code for sub-systems critical to the Roblox game engine
• Work on sub-systems that handle data syncing between server and client, game-aware data streaming, and harmonizing resource usage so gameplay works on devices with varying CPU and memory capabilities
• Work on every application Roblox develops, from mobile phone clients to cloud-based servers

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience, including work on deep, challenging problems in large and complex C++ codebases
• Comfort with system-level pointers, templates, and raw blocks of memory as tools for writing code
• Experience working in the internals of a game engine, or a passion for learning it
• A record of building systems that work and keep working reliably
• Curiosity and a drive to stay current on technology developments
