garden3d is a worker-owned creative collective working with clients like Google, Stripe, Figma, Hinge, ACLU, MIT, and Etsy. We build brands, apps, and IoT products, and operate under our studio arms Sanctuary Computer (development) and XXIX (design).

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Shopify Developer who combines deep e-commerce expertise with modern frontend engineering. You'll build high-performance storefronts — from custom Liquid themes to headless Hydrogen/Next.js builds — working closely with our design team.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain storefronts using Liquid (Online Store 2.0) and headless architectures (Shopify Storefront API, GraphQL, Hydrogen/Remix, Next.js)
• Implement pixel-perfect, accessible, responsive interfaces
• Integrate with headless CMS (Sanity, Contentful), payment gateways, and third-party APIs
• Optimize performance (Core Web Vitals, asset delivery, bundle size)
• Build reusable component libraries and design systems
• Participate in sprint planning, standups, and code reviews

Must-Haves

• 8+ years of frontend development experience
• Deep Shopify expertise: Liquid, Online Store 2.0, Storefront API, Hydrogen/Remix or Next.js
• Expert-level TypeScript, Tailwind/CSS Modules, animation libraries (GSAP, Framer Motion)
• Experience integrating headless CMS and third-party tools (Klaviyo, Recharge, Algolia, Stripe)
• Familiarity with Vercel, Netlify, Shopify Oxygen
• State management (Zustand, Redux, Pinia), WCAG accessibility, testing (Jest, Playwright, Cypress

Nice-to-Haves

• Custom Shopify App development (Node.js, Remix, GraphQL Admin API)
• Shopify Plus features (Functions, Checkout Branding API, B2B)
• Analytics/tracking setup, WebGL/3D experience, full-stack API design
• Client-facing experience

Compensation

$40–$120/hr based on seniority. Projects typically run 8+ full-time weeks at 40 hrs/week; longer-term engagements preferred.
