About the role

Affirm is hiring multiple Early Career Analysts across its Risk & Analytics organization through this single posting. Candidates complete a shared interview process designed to assess the core skills needed across R&A. If selected, Affirm will work with you to find the best team match based on your interests, experience, strengths, and current business needs. In the hybrid early career program, you will be paired with a tenured Affirmer and collaborate in person 3 days a week from the New York City or San Francisco office. After the first year, you can stay hybrid, go remote, or stay in an office.

You will learn the fundamentals of consumer lending while doing scoped analytical work under senior analysts and managers. You will use SQL, Python, and modern analytical tools to help optimize business strategies, monitor performance, and turn complex data into actionable insights.

Potential team placements

  • Point of Sale (POS): Optimize merchant and checkout performance to improve conversion, approvals, and unit economics across the purchase funnel
  • Direct to Consumer (DTC) / Card: Drive engagement, repeat usage, and lifecycle health across Affirm’s app, web, and card experiences
  • Fraud: Prevent and reduce fraud losses across the customer journey while keeping the user experience frictionless
  • Core Analytics: Build the quantitative research, machine learning models, performance monitoring, and scalable data foundations behind fast, economically sound decisions
  • Servicing and Payments: Improve the post-origination customer experience by analyzing repayment behavior, collections strategies, and operational efficiency
  • International Expansion: Build the measurement and decision foundations needed to launch and scale Affirm in new global markets

Key Responsibilities

  • Use data analytics to find insights that help optimize product, risk, or growth strategies across geographies
  • Help track performance metrics, user behavior, and macroeconomic trends that affect business outcomes, flagging risks and anomalies to senior team members
  • Write clean, working SQL and Python to build scalable reporting, and partner with Engineering to support the deployment of machine learning and risk models
  • Work with Product, Legal, and Compliance to understand evolving consumer lending regulations and market requirements, and help turn them into foundational data models and operational policies
  • Support cross-functional discussions so new product launches and market entries match Affirm’s operational capabilities and risk appetite
  • Use AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, copilots) in daily workflows to speed up data mining and routine tasks, while verifying outputs

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher, completing your most recent full-time degree program by August 2027 or earlier
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Python, or other scripting languages
  • Familiarity with data mining, data visualization, and foundational statistical modeling
