About the role
At Robinhood, our mission is to democratize finance for all. An estimated $124 trillion of assets will be inherited by younger generations in the next two decades—representing the largest transfer of wealth in human history.
Robinhood is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Enterprise Build team—the high-leverage unit responsible for turning the company's best AI-built internal prototypes into production-grade enterprise services. Across Finance, HR, Legal, and Compliance, Robinhood employees utilize sanctioned AI tools to prototype custom software solutions. Operating like an internal forward-deployed engineering pod, your mission is to evaluate these "vibe-coded" prototypes and rebuild them into enterprise-grade services that meet Robinhood’s strict security, auditability, and infrastructure standards (SSO, secrets management, CI/CD, audit logging). You will leverage AI agents for initial assessment, code porting, and scaffolding, ensuring fast-paced software delivery inside a heavily regulated financial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prototype Assessment & Architecture: Evaluate internal, AI-generated prototypes from business teams (Finance, HR, Legal, Compliance), making technical decisions on what to harden, rebuild, or redirect to maximize business value.
- Enterprise Service Engineering: Build and ship production-grade backend and full-stack services meeting enterprise standards for SSO, audit logging, secrets management, security compliance, and CI/CD pipelines.
- AI-Native Engineering: Utilize AI coding agents for first-pass code assessment, porting, and test generation; build Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, sub-agents, and agent skills as production artifacts.
- Embedded Business Collaboration: Work directly alongside non-technical business partners to translate operational workflows into adopted enterprise software.
- Operational Handoffs & Observability: Deliver operational artifacts—including runbooks, evals, tracing dashboards, and performance monitors—as part of feature completion.
- Platform Compounding: Partner with the Enterprise Platforms team to convert repeating custom solutions into reusable platform capabilities across Robinhood.
Requirements
Software Engineering & AI-Native Depth
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building and running backend or full-stack production systems.
- Cloud & Serverless Depth: Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred), containerized microservices, infrastructure as code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and serverless architectures.
- AI-Native Development: Daily fluency with agentic coding tools, hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications or agentic workflows, and strong judgment when reviewing, hardening, and productionizing AI-generated code.
- Product Sense & Scoping Discipline: Proven ability to extract core workflow requirements, eliminate non-essential scope, and rapidly execute projects through clean operational handoffs.
- Cross-Functional Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a track record of collaborating directly with non-engineering stakeholders (Legal, HR, Finance).
Location & Hybrid Work Logistics
- Ability to work in-person at least 3 days per week out of Robinhood's Menlo Park, CA office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior software engineering experience within fintech, financial services, or highly regulated corporate environments.
- Deep technical understanding of enterprise security frameworks, OAuth/SSO integration, SOC 2 controls, and automated audit logging.
Total Rewards & Benefits
- Compensation & Equity: Zone-based base salary ($130,000 – $195,000 USD) + performance-driven multipliers + bonus programs + equity ownership + 401(k) company match.
- Comprehensive Healthcare: 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees (90% coverage for dependents), plus fertility benefits and mental health programs.
- Lifestyle Wallet: Flexible spending account for wellness, education, continuous learning, and lifestyle enrichment.
- In-Office Perks: Premium office workspaces, catered meals, team events, paid time off, company holidays, paid sick leave, and parental leave.
