Full Stack Software Engineer - Ruby & React

We are looking for a Full Stack Software Developer to join our LabArchives team, a dedicated group building industry-leading Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN), Inventory, and Scheduler products. In this role, you will partner closely with product, operations, and support teams to design, build, and maintain the LabArchives SaaS product suite, making a direct impact on how global scientific research is conducted.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Engineering: Collaborate cross-functionally with product, operations, and support teams to design, build, and maintain the LabArchives suite of products.
• Feature Delivery: Iteratively plan, write, test, and release clean, scalable full-stack features and product capabilities.
• Testing & Quality Assurance: Create and maintain robust unit test suites while expanding automated end-to-end testing frameworks.
• Code Reviews & Audits: Participate actively in code reviews, application security audits, and WCAG accessibility evaluations.
• Continuous Improvement: Apply a technology enthusiast's mindset to refine engineering processes, codebase health, and deployment pipelines.

Requirements

Experience & Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent combination of education and 8+ years of professional software engineering experience).
• Proven hands-on development experience across front-end, back-end, and database layers.

Technical Capabilities

• Server-Side Development: Experience with frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, Node.js, or PHP (strong preference for Ruby on Rails).
• Front-End Engineering: Hands-on experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue, alongside modern HTML5, CSS3, and ES6+ JavaScript.
• Database & Paradigms: Proficiency in database design (SQL/Relational), object-oriented programming (OOP), and functional programming principles.

Collaboration & Mindset

• Strong communication skills to partner across product, customer support, and operational teams.
• Passion for technology, continuous learning, and software craftsmanship.

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience building SaaS products in a regulated or scientific research-focused industry.
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps workflows.
• Exposure to web accessibility standards (WCAG) and cloud security best practices.
• Interest in scientific technology, biotechnology, or educational software.
