Lead Forward Deployed Engineer - AI Enablement

Reddit is home to over 100,000 active communities and approximately 130 million daily active unique visitors. As a Lead Forward Deployed Engineer (AI Enablement), you will own the vision for how applied AI solves business problems across Reddit. You will identify high-value opportunities, establish technical strategy, and build production capabilities that transform how technical and business functions—such as Sales, Marketing, Business Development, and Finance—operate.

In this senior technical leadership role, you will bridge emerging AI models and agents with concrete business problems. Partnering with internal business leaders and the core AI Platform team, you will design, prototype, and ship AI-native workflows, agents, skills, and automations that deliver measurable improvements in quality, speed, capacity, and cost efficiency across Reddit.

Key Responsibilities

• AI Solutions Delivery: Build and deploy AI applications, autonomous agents, skills, connectors, and workflow automations that solve core business problems.
• Workflow Discovery & Prototyping: Embedded within internal functions to understand goals, workflows, and data systems. Prototype solutions within days and productionize priority workflows within weeks.
• Agent Orchestration & Evals: Integrate data, APIs, and enterprise tools into safe end-to-end workflows featuring rigorous evaluations (evals), review gates, human-in-the-loop controls, and observability.
• Platform Capability Building: Turn local workflow wins into reusable agents, skills, templates, playbooks, Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations, and shared platform patterns.
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Sequence and organize engineering deliverables, conduct design/code reviews, and mentor engineers and technical leads on applied AI systems.
• AI Strategy & Innovation: Stay current with advances in AI models, agents, and tooling to translate emerging technologies into Reddit’s enterprise AI roadmap.
• Ownership Transfer: Launch production workflows with clear governance, documentation, and support before transferring maintenance to function owners to ensure long-term sustainability.

Requirements

Experience & Technical Background

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building workflow automations, internal platforms, enterprise tools, or AI applications.
• Hands-on AI & Agent Expertise: Proven experience building and deploying AI agents—including tool use, orchestration, state management, and failure handling—along with production LLM experience (retrieval/RAG, structured outputs, evals, and monitoring).
• Integration & Access Standards: Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP), reusable tool integrations, API integrations, and enterprise identity/access patterns.

Technical Leadership & Delivery

• Proven track record of creating an engineering practice, component, or architectural pattern adopted across multiple teams.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with demonstrated product judgment when evaluating business and operational trade-offs.
• Ability to build trust with executive and non-technical business stakeholders to establish clear decisions and success metrics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in applied AI, forward-deployed engineering, enterprise workflow modernization, or internal platforms.
• Experience delivering business-critical workflows handling sensitive data, auditability requirements, or consequential automated actions.
• Proven experience driving internal AI adoption through active training, user onboarding, and feedback loops.
