About the role

At Klaviyo, data is foundational to everything we build. Our platform empowers global creators and e-commerce brands by making first-party customer data actionable at scale.

As the Lead Product Manager for the Data Ingestion Platform, you will define the vision, long-range strategy, and execution roadmap for how high-volume data from diverse sources enters, transforms, and powers Klaviyo’s core ecosystem. Sitting at the intersection of deep architectural discussions and strategic product vision, you will establish the charter for a newly formed platform team—modernizing legacy data pipelines and building a unified, scalable, and resilient ingestion framework. Working onsite in our Boston HQ, you will partner closely with Engineering, SRE, and downstream feature teams to drive platform health, reduce operational complexity, and institutionalize AI automation across ingestion workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Charter & Strategic Vision: Define the long-term vision, scope, and ownership boundaries for a newly formed data ingestion team—establishing clarity and direction in an ambiguous, evolving problem space.
  • Product Roadmap Ownership: Develop and maintain a high-impact platform roadmap that balances foundational technical debt and architectural simplification with active feature enablement.
  • High-Volume Ingestion Strategy: Architect holistic strategies for ingesting, transforming, and routing massive streams of first- and third-party data with strict freshness, latency, and reliability SLAs.
  • Engineering Partnership: Engage directly in technical and architectural discussions with senior engineering leaders; balance trade-offs across cost, latency, system throughput, and operational complexity.
  • AI-Forward Platform Innovation: Institutionalize AI, automation, and intelligent tooling as force multipliers to eliminate pipeline toil, automate root-cause debugging, and improve data observability.
  • Metrics-Driven Platform Health: Establish concrete success metrics (e.g., pipeline freshness, ingestion latency, change failure rates, incident volume) to validate platform impact and prioritize investments.
  • Observability & Operational Excellence: Partner with SRE and platform teams to build proactive monitoring and diagnostic capabilities directly into every ingestion pipeline component.

Requirements

Platform Product Leadership & Technical Depth

  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated experience as a Lead or Senior Platform Product Manager owning data infrastructure, distributed systems, developer platforms, or high-throughput data movement frameworks.
  • Data Infrastructure Expertise: Deep understanding of modern data architecture, event-driven systems, stream processing, high-volume ETL/ELT ingestion pipelines, and schema management.
  • Technical Fluency: Comfort engaging in detailed architectural discussions with staff and principal engineers regarding distributed systems, API gateways, and data storage layers.
  • AI-Forward Mindset: Practical understanding of how AI and automation can be integrated into platform engineering to improve engineering productivity and observability.
  • Metrics-Oriented Prioritization: Fluency in evaluating platform health via engineering productivity, data quality, system uptime, and reliability metrics.
  • Onsite Requirement: Ability and willingness to work 5 days per week onsite at Klaviyo’s headquarters in Boston, MA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating in fast-growing SaaS or e-commerce data platform environments.
  • Prior experience setting up a brand-new platform team charter from 0 to 1.
  • Deep familiarity with developer experience metrics, internal platform adoption frameworks, and developer velocity optimizations.

Total Rewards & Benefits

  • Compensation & Equity: Base salary of $168,000 – $252,000 USD + annual performance bonus eligibility + equity grant package.
  • Healthcare & Wellbeing: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage; mental health resources and wellness perks.
  • Retirement & Financial Protection: 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, and disability coverage.
  • Work Culture & Growth: Collaborative environment, professional development stipends, and dedicated AI productivity tool access.
