Senior Data Scientist - Product Analytics & Growth

Reddit is home to over 100,000 active communities and approximately 130 million daily active unique visitors. The Data Science team at Reddit partners directly with Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Business Development teams to build and optimize systems that drive global user and revenue growth.

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a key technical leadership role across critical product organizations (such as Consumer Product, Ads Monetization, or Safety). You will guide product strategy through rigorous experimentation, metric design, observational causal inference, and deep data analysis. In this role, you will influence executive decisions up to the C-suite, uplevel team-wide experimentation practices, build self-serve data tooling, and mentor junior data scientists across the organization. Candidates complete a general Data Science interview process and are matched to the product vertical that best aligns with their technical expertise and background.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Strategy & Causal Insights: Develop action-oriented insights using observational causal analysis and experiment meta-analysis to inform product roadmaps, presenting actionable recommendations directly to executive leadership.
• Experimentation Leadership: Uplevel team-wide A/B testing practices by designing, executing, and deep-diving into complex online experiments to maximize learnings from feature launches.
• Data Engineering & Self-Serve Tooling: Build robust ETL pipelines, data tables, dashboards, and self-serve tools that empower cross-functional partners and data scientists to query data seamlessly.
• KPI Architecture & Metrics Design: Design, measure, and evaluate team-level KPIs to support quarterly business goal-setting and demonstrate strategic product impact.
• Cross-Functional Alignment: Engage regularly with Product, Engineering, and Design leaders to gather feedback, align data science initiatives with business goals, and track product performance.
• Mentorship & Data Literacy: Mentor junior data scientists and business partners in analytical best practices, boosting data literacy and evidence-based decision-making across Reddit.

Requirements

Academic Background & Experience

• Advanced Quantitative Degree: Master's degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, or Computer Science.
• Industry Experience:
  • M.S. Holders: 5+ years of professional experience in applied science or data science roles.
  • Ph.D. Holders: 4+ years of professional experience in applied science or data science roles.

Technical Competencies

• Advanced proficiency in querying relational databases using SQL and programming in Python or R for statistical analysis.
• Deep theoretical and practical mastery of online experimentation (A/B testing), causal inference methodologies, and statistical modeling.
• Demonstrated experience creating ETL pipelines, data models, and analytical dashboards for production environments.

Communication & Leadership

• Exceptional data storytelling and technical communication skills, with a track record of explaining complex statistical topics to non-technical executive stakeholders.
• Proven capability to drive clarity and structure in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with a strong bias for action.
