About the role
The International engineering team’s mission is to expand Robinhood’s products globally and scale its platform to support millions of new customers in diverse markets. The team builds experiences across onboarding, funding, account setup, localized products, growth incentives, and the platform capabilities needed to operate in new jurisdictions. As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer, you will be a core technical driver of Robinhood’s global expansion, bridging high-performance frontends with resilient backend distributed systems. You will design reusable platform abstractions that let Robinhood scale into new markets while upholding standards for security, availability, and compliance. You will lead complex technical designs, raise the engineering bar across the stack, and work with product managers, designers, compliance partners, and platform teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality frontend interfaces (React/TypeScript) and scale robust backend services (Go/Python)
- Own the technical delivery of international capabilities, including localized onboarding funnels, identity verification (KYC/AML), multi-currency funding rails, and region-specific trading experiences
- Build and optimize growth mechanisms, localized promotion engines, and user acquisition pipelines to speed up international adoption
- Architect modular, scalable frameworks and internationalization (i18n/l10n) services that make expanding to future jurisdictions faster, safer, and more reliable
- Build backend services and localized products for high availability, low latency, and fault tolerance, with telemetry, automated testing, and production on-call rotations
- Partner with Product Management, Product Design, Compliance, Legal, and Platform teams to turn jurisdictional requirements into user-centric technical solutions
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and operating production systems across the full stack
- Proficiency with modern frontend technologies and frameworks (e.g., React, TypeScript), with an emphasis on performance, accessibility, and state management
- Strong experience building scalable distributed services in languages such as Go or Python, using relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis) and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka)
- Proven track record of taking complex features from ambiguity through technical design, phased rollout, production validation, and post-launch maintenance
- Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, gRPC, service-oriented architectures, and microservice integration patterns
- Clear, structured communication to explain trade-offs, build technical consensus across distributed teams, and align with non-technical stakeholders
