Frontend Intern, Remote Flight Deck | Skydio Drone Jobs

Skydio’s mission is to make the world safer and more efficient through autonomous drones. Public safety, critical infrastructure, and enterprise customers rely on Remote Flight Deck (RFD), Skydio’s browser-based piloting experience, to get eyes on the scene in seconds and coordinate a response. As a frontend intern on the RFD Platform team, you will help build that experience. The team builds the browser platform every remote pilot uses, including live video, telemetry, the map, and flight controls. You will ship production features with engineers, designers, and product managers, and you will have room to follow a problem past the frontend into video, telemetry, and backend services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement pilot-facing features that help operators make faster, safer decisions while flying
• Use curiosity, technical skill, and a collaborative mindset to help make the world more productive, creative, and safe with autonomous drones
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and support to deliver high-quality, impactful features to customers

Example projects include:

• Build on the multi-cockpit view that lets pilots open several drone pilots at once
• Ship a camera control like click-to-focus: hold F, click a point in the live video, and lock focus and exposure on a moving target
• Add a map layer like flight-path breadcrumbs, giving pilots a live trail of where the drone has flown
• Render AR bounds around subject tracks from the vehicle, and let users instruct the drone to follow a vehicle

Requirements

• Currently a junior, senior, or MS-level student
• Solid software engineering foundation and a commitment to clean, well-architected code
• Meaningful project or internship experience developing modern web applications that connect to backend APIs and data systems
• Experience in modern web development (React, TypeScript, GraphQL, WebGL/Three.js)
• Experience building and maintaining scalable APIs, services, and integrations that handle large datasets
