Android Software Engineer Intern, Summer 2027 | Skydio Drones

Skydio is looking for interns for Summer 2027 to help create a new kind of mobile experience for truly autonomous drones. Instead of complex joysticks and awkward tilt controls, the team is crafting novel interactions that use Skydio’s onboard intelligence, so a much broader and more diverse audience can fly drones. The ideal candidate is a senior or MS-level student with practical project or industry experience building Android mobile apps.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and refine advanced drone interfaces, then polish a consistent mobile experience for release
• Contribute to the user interfaces for the world’s most advanced autonomous flying camera
• Combine your Android knowledge with Skydio’s Drone Intelligence API to help set a new standard for drone apps
• Improve user experiences with augmented reality, in-app content creation, and sharing capabilities
• Iterate on designs based on user feedback, internal testing, and your own experience piloting Skydio drones

Requirements

• Currently a senior or MS-level college student
• Practical project and/or industry experience developing Android mobile applications
• A passion for meticulously crafted interfaces that balance ease of use, elegance, and power
• Experience with Kotlin, Android Studio, Gradle, adb, and Linux, following best practices with Android Architecture Components and Jetpack Compose
• Ability to build tools and automate workflows with Python scripts
• Appreciation for code review and other collaborative development practices
