About the role
Gemini is a global crypto and Web3 platform founded in 2014 by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, delivering secure, reliable crypto products to millions of individuals and institutions across 70+ countries.
As a Senior Product Engineer on the Tooling team, you will build and scale customer-facing platform tooling across backend, web, and mobile surfaces. Your work will shape the core user journey—from initial user onboarding and identity/KYC compliance to customer support workflows and ad-hoc platform features. Operating in a high-ownership environment, you will leverage AI-assisted development tools and an agentic SDLC pipeline where specialized agents plan, implement, and review code alongside human engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Stack Product Engineering: Design, develop, and deploy customer-facing features spanning backend microservices, web platforms, and mobile apps (owning solutions end-to-end).
- Core Platform Tooling: Architect and maintain internal and external workflows backing user onboarding, identity verification (KYC), regulatory compliance, and customer support.
- Agentic SDLC & AI Automation: Utilize AI coding agents and automated harnesses in daily workflows to eliminate toil and refine Gemini’s continuous delivery pipeline.
- DevOps Lifecycle Ownership: Build, validate, deploy, monitor, and maintain production services throughout their operational lifespan.
- System Architecture & Trade-Offs: Provide technical input during product scoping, making well-reasoned trade-offs between delivery speed and system quality.
- Code Governance & Mentorship: Conduct thorough code reviews for information security, correctness, and style while mentoring junior/mid-level engineers.
Requirements
Experience & Stack Knowledge
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building and maintaining production systems at scale.
- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple layers of the stack (backend services plus web and/or mobile).
- Proficiency in a typed language (e.g., TypeScript, Scala, Java, Go) and hands-on comfort with JavaScript/TypeScript for web and mobile interfaces.
- Proven experience building consumer-facing applications with strong UI/UX sensibilities and product design intuition.
Engineering Culture & AI Tooling
- Fluency in using AI coding tools and automation within everyday software development workflows.
- Expertise in unit/integration testing methodologies and a strong commitment to codebase health and maintainability.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams, time zones, and competing priorities.
Presence Requirements
- Ability to report in person twice a week at Gemini's hub office in New York City, NY.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the crypto, Web3, or fintech industry.
- Direct domain experience with onboarding systems, identity verification (KYC), compliance tooling, or customer success software.
- Experience building, operating, or integrating production AI agents or agentic workflows.
- Familiarity with React / React Native and cloud microservices architectures.
- Background using data analytics and A/B experimentation to influence product roadmaps.
Total Rewards & Benefits
- Compensation: Base salary of $140,000 – $200,000 USD (NY) + discretionary annual bonus + new hire long-term equity grant (RSUs/Options).
- Healthcare & Family: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans; paid parental leave.
- Financial Security: 401(k) retirement savings program with company matching.
- Time Off: Flexible Time Off (FTO) policy and paid company holidays.
