About the role
At Signifyd, we help global merchants confidently grow their businesses by protecting revenue and creating frictionless payment experiences. Trusted by thousands of leading e-commerce brands across 100+ countries, we securely process billions of transactions annually.
As the Senior Product Manager for Authorization Optimization, you will own the product domain where payment processing and fraud decisioning intersect. Your core mission is to maximize authorization approval rates for legitimate transactions while protecting merchants from fraud loss. In this hands-on, highly technical product leadership role, you will define the roadmap, specify data APIs connecting merchants, Payment Service Providers (PSPs), and card issuers, and build BIN-level intelligence engines. You will partner daily with engineering, data science, and go-to-market teams to design intelligent retries, 3DS/SCA step-up workflows, and dynamic routing logic that directly recovers merchant revenue.
Key Responsibilities
- Authorization Optimization Strategy & Roadmap: Own the end-to-end authorization product roadmap, prioritizing high-value opportunities, sequencing delivery, and communicating strategy to executive leadership and GTM teams.
- Technical API & Data Specifications: Write precise technical specs, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Define APIs, schema contracts, and data integration points flowing between merchants, gateways, PSPs, acquirers, and card issuers.
- Issuer & BIN Intelligence Infrastructure: Build issuer/Bank Identification Number (BIN) intelligence models tracking decline patterns, treatment effectiveness, and transaction recovery metrics to maximize recoverable merchant revenue.
- Dynamic Decisioning & Routing: Drive issuer-specific decisioning across 3DS/EMVCo, Strong Customer Authentication (SCA/PSD2/PSD3), step-up logic, decline recovery, intelligent retries, and multi-acquirer payment routing.
- Data Science & ML Collaboration: Partner with Data Science teams to build risk-aware machine learning decision engines that balance authorization uplift gains against fraud and chargeback exposure.
- Strategic Partnership Ecosystem: Evaluate and develop strategic technical partnerships with payment processors, acquirers, card networks, and issuers to expand global platform coverage.
- Revenue Uplift Measurement: Own measurable authorization approval gains, proving treatment value through merchant Proof of Value (PoV) studies and BIN-level performance analytics.
Requirements
Product Management & Payments Depth
- 5+ years of dedicated product management experience owning a technical software roadmap and managing end-to-end delivery with engineering teams.
- Hands-On Payments Expertise: Deep understanding of issuer authorization behavior, decline recovery algorithms, retries, 3DS (EMVCo), and European SCA frameworks (PSD2 / upcoming PSD3 transition).
- Technical & API Specification Fluency: Proven track record writing detailed technical specs and defining RESTful APIs, data models, or high-volume transaction interfaces alongside engineering leads.
- Data Science & Quantitative Analytics: Strong analytical skills working with transaction-level data, defining success metrics, and translating machine learning model outputs into product workflows.
- Cross-Functional Influence: Demonstrated ability to align engineering, data science, sales, and customer success teams behind complex technical initiatives.
Work Logistics
- Ability to work remotely within the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working at a payment processor, gateway, PSP, acquirer, card network, issuer, or fraud/risk SaaS vendor.
- Exposure to fraud decisioning, digital identity verification, and managing the false-decline versus fraud-loss tradeoff.
- Technical familiarity with tokenization, ISO 8583 message specs, and B2B SaaS e-commerce architectures.
Total Rewards & Benefits
- Compensation & Equity: Tiered base salary ($145,000 – $205,000 USD) + up to 10% annual bonus + 7,000 stock options grant.
- Time Off & Flexibility: Discretionary Unlimited Time Off Policy + 12 weeks of paid parental leave.
- Comprehensive Healthcare: Top-tier medical, dental, and vision insurance options, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), plus short/long-term disability.
- Financial & Mental Wellbeing: 401(k) matching plan, dedicated learning budget through Learnerbly, and on-demand therapy for employees and dependents.
