Software Engineer Intern, Summer 2027 | Coinbase Internship

Join Coinbase for a 12-week internship in summer 2027 as a Software Engineer Intern, helping build the next generation of crypto-forward products and features. You will solve large-scale technical problems where web-scale applications meet blockchain technology, shipping real code that impacts millions of users. When you apply, you will choose your preferred team, and your application will be considered primarily for that team in its location.

Product Group Teams (San Francisco)

• Base: Scale the crypto economy with integrations, fiat onramps, and developer tools on Coinbase’s Ethereum L2 network
• Consumer: Build the fastest way to access crypto through the Coinbase retail and wallet apps, advanced trade, dApps, and staking
• Developer: Build Coinbase Developer Platform’s payments, wallets, trading, and stablecoin APIs
• Institutional: Help large financial institutions securely custody digital assets, stake, and take part in the crypto economy
• Platform: Create the scalable, compliant foundational systems (Identity, FinHub, Payments, Blockchain, and Infrastructure) behind all Coinbase products
• Enterprise AI: Build AI-powered tools and platforms that boost employee productivity and collaboration
• Enterprise Engineering (EE): Develop platforms that improve customer support, internal tools, and compliance through automation

Core Teams (New York City)

• Security: Build solutions for security, compliance, and privacy, including the Workforce IAM Platform and security oversight tooling

Key Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, well-tested code that ships to production and directly impacts Coinbase customers
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to turn technical and product vision into delivered features
• Take part in code reviews, giving and receiving feedback that raises the quality bar for your team
• Own a defined project end to end, from scoping through implementation and launch, within the 12 weeks
• Learn and apply crypto and blockchain concepts to real engineering problems in production

Requirements

• Programming experience in any language (academic, personal, or professional)
• Ability to break down ambiguous problems into concrete implementation steps
• Familiarity with at least one of web development, mobile development, backend systems, or infrastructure
• Ability to use generative AI tools and copilots (e.g., LibreChat, Gemini, Glean) responsibly in daily workflows, with human oversight, to deliver business-ready outputs and improve efficiency, cost, and quality
• Willingness to keep learning as AI tools evolve
