
About the role
The GIP Tax team is part of BlackRock’s Product Tax organization and supports a leading global alternatives investment platform. It works with investment, legal, finance, and operational stakeholders across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia Pacific, advising on complex infrastructure investments and fund structures. As a Vice President, you would provide tax advisory and structuring support for infrastructure investments across the Americas. You would evaluate new opportunities, design efficient investment structures, coordinate with tax advisors, and manage tax risks throughout an investment’s life cycle, working closely with deal teams, external advisors, investors, and internal stakeholders.
Location and work mode
New York, NY. The work mode is hybrid: employees are currently required to be in the office at least 4 days per week, with 1 day a week working from home. Some business groups may require more office time.
Salary
USD $190,000 - $250,000 (New York, NY). Employees are also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
Key responsibilities
- Advise on GIP tax matters across the investment lifecycle, including tax due diligence, structuring of investments and holding structures, legal documentation review and negotiation, and ongoing oversight.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for infrastructure deal teams on acquisitions, investment structures, financing arrangements, and related transactions.
- Engage with investment sponsors and counterparties on tax queries and negotiate tax provisions in transaction documents.
- Partner with the global Product Tax organization and regional tax teams on cross-border matters.
- Collaborate with legal, finance, and operational stakeholders on implementing investment structures and fund flows.
- Monitor domestic and international tax legislation and assess its impact on investment structures and portfolio investments.
- Help develop scalable tax policies, governance frameworks, and processes to support platform growth.
Experience required
- Law degree, CPA qualification, or comparable professional tax credential.
- Demonstrated expertise in private infrastructure fund and investment taxation within the Americas.
- Strong understanding of fund vehicles, holding structures, and cross-border tax considerations.
- Experience advising on transaction-related tax matters, including due diligence, structuring, modelling support, and documentation review.
- General knowledge of corporate tax, transfer pricing, and VAT for global asset managers.
