Hospital Lab Assistant - Inventory & Supply Chain Management

Labcorp is looking for a Hospital Lab Assistant for inventory and supplies at Ascension St. John Hospital. You would order supplies, receive and process stock into the inventory system, fill orders from lab departments, and keep inventory under control. The role works in a high-volume, production-based environment and is a vital part of clinical lab science.

Key responsibilities

• Place supply orders with vendors by computer and telephone.
• Receive and process stock into the inventory management system.
• Process orders from lab departments by phone, fax, and email.
• Resolve inventory discrepancies efficiently and on time.
• Maintain inventory control according to company standards.
• Run the full monthly physical inventory.
• Deliver supplies to the departments that need them.
• Load and unload supplies from trucks and verify packing slips as needed.
• Handle additional materials duties as needed.

Experience and education required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 or more years of inventory, purchasing, and/or supply management experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Finance.
• Associate’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.

Technical skills

• Inventory control and physical inventory counts
• Knowledge of market conditions, pricing trends, and supply chain logistics
• Procurement software and ERP systems (for example SAP, Oracle), at an intermediate level
• Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheet formulas and pivot tables
• Data entry and basic computer skills
