About the role

At Affirm, we exist for the moments that matter—giving people a clear, predictable way to pay over time with no hidden fees, no compounding interest, and no surprises.

As a Senior Product Manager on the Consumer Payments team, you will own the end-to-end product strategy for how millions of customers make repayments to Affirm. You will sit at the high-impact intersection of Product, Engineering, Design, Analytics, Finance, and Partnerships to build intuitive repayment journeys, improve payment success rates, and ensure payments are processed safely and cost-effectively. In this role, you will combine deep customer empathy with analytical rigor to run conversion experiments, eliminate user friction, and execute an ambitious roadmap that drives both user satisfaction and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repayment Experience Ownership: Uncover user friction points through customer research and data analytics; partner with Design and Analytics to craft seamless payment experiences from discovery to launch.
  • Experimentation & Optimization: Design, execute, and analyze A/B experiments to boost payment conversion rates, improve success metrics, and lower payment processing costs.
  • Processing Strategy & Cost Efficiency: Shape how payment transactions are safely and cost-effectively routed and processed across financial partners, balancing performance, risk, and processing fees.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner closely with Engineering, Analytics, Finance, Design, and Partnerships to evaluate new opportunities, sequence initiatives, and articulate technical trade-offs.
  • Roadmap & Executive Alignment: Translate ambiguous and conflicting inputs into a clear multi-quarter product strategy; present high-impact bets to senior leadership to gain organizational alignment.

Requirements

Product Management Depth

  • 5+ years of progressive product management experience leading consumer software or financial products.
  • Analytical Rigor: Proven ability to navigate complex datasets, interpret A/B test results, and leverage quantitative analytics alongside qualitative research to drive product decisions.
  • Customer Focus: Strong user empathy with demonstrated success in identifying where digital experiences break down and executing targeted fixes.
  • Technical Fluency: Ability to engage in informed technical conversations with software engineers about system architecture, APIs, data flows, and trade-offs.
  • End-to-End Delivery: Proven track record taking products across the complete lifecycle: discovery, scope definition, launch, and iterative optimization.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate complex trade-offs clearly and build trust with cross-functional partners and senior leadership without formal authority.

Work Logistics

  • Ability to work remotely within the United States.
  • Willingness to participate in an interactive in-person onboarding experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct domain experience in consumer payments, payment processing, e-commerce checkout systems, or fintech platforms.
  • Familiarity with payment rails (e.g., ACH, Debit/Credit Card processing, Real-Time Payments, push-to-card) and payment gateway economics.

Total Rewards & Benefits

  • 100% Employer-Paid Healthcare: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with 100% of premiums covered for employees and their dependents.
  • Equity & Stock Purchase Plan: Equity rewards package plus Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) allowing team members to purchase Affirm stock at a discount.
  • Monthly Spending Stipends: Monthly stipends to support home office setups, technology needs, and health/wellness expenses.
  • Time Off & Onboarding: Flexible time off, generous holiday schedules, and an interactive in-person onboarding experience.
