About the role
Asana is a leading platform for human + AI collaboration, helping millions of global teams achieve their goals faster. As Asana’s developer platform grows, we are expanding our presence in the developer and AI ecosystem.
As a Developer Advocate, you will serve as Asana’s credible external voice in the developer and AI communities. Based in our San Francisco office, you will represent Asana where builders live—on social channels, at industry conferences, in technical forums, and through high-impact content creation. You will serve as an authoritative voice on AI agents and agentic workflows, helping developers understand how Asana creates value in an AI-driven ecosystem while channeling direct community feedback back into Product, Engineering, and Design roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities
- Developer Engagement & Strategy: Design and execute developer engagement programs that drive ecosystem adoption of Asana’s platform APIs, webhooks, and SDKs.
- Technical Content Authoring: Write high-quality technical content, including sample applications, code tutorials, technical blog posts, API documentation, and agent integration guides.
- Community Presence & Advocacy: Engage with developers across online forums, social channels, developer workshops, and industry conferences to cultivate trust and handle developer pain points.
- Inbound Feedback & Roadmap Influence: Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Design to turn developer feedback and API usage patterns into actionable platform enhancements.
- Cross-Functional Enablement: Collaborate with Marketing, Business Development, and Solutions Engineering to support strategic partner integrations and technical growth initiatives.
- Ecosystem Mentorship: Elevate developer relations best practices across the company and mentor community contributors and junior advocates.
Requirements
Developer Relations & Technical Depth
- Proven track record as a Developer Advocate, Developer Relations Engineer, or Senior Software Engineer with substantial experience building developer community programs.
- Deep Technical Background: Hands-on experience building, consuming, and debugging RESTful APIs, webhooks, and modern SDKs in languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Ruby.
- AI & Agentic Systems Authority: Deep technical understanding of modern AI tools, LLM frameworks, autonomous agents, and agentic workflows, with the ability to articulate clear integration approaches.
- Technical Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a history of simplifying complex system architectures into accessible technical content.
- Data-Driven Developer Experience: Strategic mindset with experience defining API adoption metrics, analyzing developer funnel data, and advocating for seamless developer onboarding.
Preferred Qualifications
- Established technical presence or following within the AI, open-source, or developer tooling communities.
- Experience building integrations or sample applications with AI agent frameworks (e.g., Claude Code, OpenAI Agents SDK, LangChain, or custom tool-calling mechanisms).
- Background in Product-Led Growth (PLG) SaaS platforms or enterprise productivity API ecosystems.
Total Rewards & Benefits
- Compensation & Equity: Base salary of $182,000 – $207,000 USD + equity rewards package.
- Health & Wellbeing: Comprehensive mental health, wellness, and fitness benefits, plus inclusive family-building coverage.
- Retirement & Savings: Long-term retirement savings plans with employer match options.
- In-Office Perks: Daily culinary dining options catering to dietary preferences at San Francisco HQ, career coaching, and professional development support.
