About the role
At Okta, identity is the key to unlocking the power of artificial intelligence. Okta secures AI by building trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables enterprise organizations to safely embrace the next generation of computing.
As a Principal Product Manager on the Enterprise AI team, you will operate in a "Customer Zero" model within Technology, Data & Intelligence (TDI)—designing, validating, and scaling AI-native enterprise products that transform how Okta operates internally and inform what we bring to market globally. You will oversee the full lifecycle of AI-native software products, taking 0→1 innovations (copilots, autonomous agents, RAG-powered workflows) from initial discovery through MVP, and scaling them 1→N into company-wide platform capabilities across IT, HR, Finance, and Go-to-Market organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- 0→1 AI Innovation & Validation: Discover, validate, and rapidly prototype high-value enterprise AI use cases—building autonomous agents, copilots, and intelligent workflow automations.
- 1→N Enterprise Scaling: Scale proven AI prototypes into reusable, highly available enterprise platform capabilities that drive measurable business transformation.
- AI Evaluation & Quality Frameworks: Define quality benchmarks, establish automated LLM evaluation pipelines, track model accuracy/latency, and measure user adoption.
- Cross-Functional Executive Partnership: Collaborate directly with leadership across IT, HR, Finance, Security, and GTM functions to ensure AI deployments deliver quantifiable ROI.
- Customer Zero Strategy: Serve as the internal voice of the customer, using internal Okta deployments to refine product security, governance, and user experience before commercial release.
Requirements
Product Management & Production AI Depth
- 10+ years of progressive product management experience, including 2+ years directly shipping production-grade AI/ML products.
- Proven track record taking software products across the complete lifecycle: idea → discovery → MVP → enterprise-wide adoption.
- Deep, hands-on experience building AI products utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic frameworks, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
- Experience establishing AI evaluation frameworks, defining quality/safety metrics, and managing trade-offs across model accuracy, latency, and inference costs.
- Exceptional cross-functional leadership, user empathy, and storytelling capabilities with an ability to translate complex AI mechanics into simple user experiences.
Work Logistics
- Ability to participate in Okta’s immersive, in-person onboarding experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Practical understanding of responsible AI principles, data privacy, and enterprise compliance guardrails.
- Understanding of AI operational economics (GPU/token costs, latency constraints, context window tradeoffs).
- Hands-on experience with agentic system design and multi-agent workflow orchestration.
Total Rewards & Benefits
- Compensation & Equity: Competitive base salary + equity compensation rewards + annual performance bonus eligibility.
- Comprehensive Healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage options; Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
- Retirement & Financial Perks: 401(k) savings plan with company match.
- Time Off & Support: Paid time off (PTO), paid parental leave, well-being resources, and community social impact programs.
